Speak Up! - Ask a question

We know that you probably have questions about how the law and our justice system works. Here's your chance to Speak Up! Submit your question below and we will make every effort to provide an answer.

Speak Up! questions are answered by volunteer lawyers, based on their experience and knowledge of the law, citing the actual law or "Statute" in most answers. All Speak Up! questions submitted are reviewed by the website editor and are then forwarded to volunteer lawyers for response. A response usually takes 2 days, but can take up to two weeks. You can check the status of a question on the Speak Up! status page.

Before you ask a question, see if your question has already been answered by searching all of the Q & A answers posted to this site.
